Custom built and classic car club Meet. First weekend of every month I was invited to visit the "Custom built and classic car club Andalucia" so on a pleasant Sunday morning we arrived at Streets of London at around 11 am Nick owner of Streets and the organiser of The Car Club said a few friends may be turning up and the Idea was to drive around La Cala "turn a few heads" then head over to Karmer (no pun intended) to show the cars and get a cool drink and talk motors.
Seeing Red Red and white seemed to be the colour for the day with an impressive collection of BOYS TOYS arriving in both colours. Robyn Wheeler owner of a shiny red MG Midget told me it was his 1st time visiting the club and great to meet fellow enthusiasts. After admiring an immaculate white E-Type Jaguar it's owner Andrew explained that it was a replica built on a jaguar chassis but we agreed it still looked just as pretty as the real thing (you judge) Imagine back in the days when we built cars in the UK we exported cars to the sunny parts of the USAplaces like California and Florida have 100's of classic old British sports cars many from manufacturers long gone bust. But even then I spoke to a couple of members who have bought cars in the USA and brought them back here to Europe.
Henri Hoogewoud has owned a 1958 MGA 1500 for over 16 years originally importing it from the USA and has driven it everyday since. Ross Davis told us he had owned his 1958 TR3A for three years. It was originally manufactured for the Californian market and was brought back a few years ago it previous owner converted it from left to right hand drive!!! One of the biggest surprises for me was the Hudson TF1700 Owned by Jeff Tuck "One of only 150 built for the Japanese market" "It has a Morris Marina 1800 Engine and an Austin Maxi Gearbox with the fifth gear removed" said Jeff. My old marina never looked like this as the stunning chrome and two colour paint glistening in the sun light Avery friendly bunch who meet regularly to swap hints tips and turn some heads, to join to find out more information about the club call Nick on 952 49 42 75
